FAQ
What do you edit?
I edit the written word in all its forms: fiction, nonfiction, website copy, essays, white papers, poetry.
If it’s in a Word file, I can edit it.
What type of file should I send you?
I only edit Microsoft Word files. Word’s Track Changes feature enables you to accept or reject my edits. If you have a PDF, please convert it to an MS Word file before ordering.
Can you follow the formatting style required for my document (e.g., APA)?
Absolutely. I edit according to your preferred style guide (e.g., APA, MLA, Chicago). Please let me know of any style requirements when ordering. I have extensive experience working with American, Canadian, and British English.
What will you deliver?
I deliver two versions of the manuscript (both as Word files): one “clean” version that’s fully polished and one with Track Changes, allowing you to accept or reject my edits. I also deliver a style sheet, and an editorial letter outlining some of the manuscript’s strengths and weaknesses.
What is a style sheet?
Good question! A style sheet is a detailed list of your grammar, style, and usage preferences. For example, do you favour use of the Oxford comma? How do you treat interior discourse? And what colour eyes did your protagonist have again?
A style sheet is a tool used by professional editors and I create one for every single project. It’s essential to keep track of the many details, decisions, and considerations that come with editing a manuscript and is an invaluable tool to help maintain consistency and continuity.
Will you maintain my voice?
Yes! Good editing brings out the best in the writer. I’m a diligent editor who will maintain your voice and unique writing style.
